Policy

The Old Town Civic Association is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of life in Old Town Alexandria. We advocate on behalf of residents on a wide range of issues, including historic preservation, transportation and parking, infrastructure, the urban forest, parks and open space, environmental stewardship, public maintenance, and other City policies that affect our neighborhood.

We fulfill this mission by fostering informed dialogue between residents and public officials. Throughout the year, we host the Mayor, members of the City Council, City staff, and State and Federal elected officials to discuss issues of importance to our community.

We also help residents stay informed by inviting subject matter experts to speak on topics such as land use, development, historic preservation, public spaces, transportation, and other issues shaping the future of Old Town. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, the Association works to ensure that residents have a strong and informed voice in the decisions that affect our neighborhood.
